Kit List for 1st Can Para Members

The following items constitute a complete "kit" for members of A Coy 1st can Para Living History Unit.  Items which are deemed necessary to provide the correct impression are listed as "required."  Items that would help to enrich our overall impression are listed as "optional."  Deviations from this list should be directed to the Unit Commander.  No exceptions !!

A.  CLOTHING :

-Battledress blouse (tunic).....Wartime issue, postwar blouses are acceptable if they are converted to wartime BD pattern...(required)

-Battledress trousers.............Wartime issue, postwar are acceptable if they are converted to wartime pattern...(required)

-Parachutist trousers..............Wartime issue, postwar are acceptable if modified to wartime pattern...(optional)

-Dennison Smock....................First or second issue wartime pattern, post- war patterns are not acceptable...(required)

-String vest..............................Post war dated ok...(required)

-Shirt........................................Collarless or collar type, collarless early in war...(required)

-Socks......................................Grey wool, CDN or Brit issue...(required)

-Braces.....................................Suspenders should be khaki with tan leather tabs...(required)

-Face veil..................................Camouflage, wartime pattern...(required)

-Boots........................................WWII style ammo boots, black with hobnails and irons...(required)

-WWII style Corcoran brown jump boots...(optional)

-Laces........................................Leather laces required, boots must be ladder laced...(required)

-Maroon beret..........................WWII pattern, (must be floppy)...(required)

-Cap badge...............................Bakelite (plastic)...(required)

-Para helmet.............................Wartime, repro or postwar acceptable as long as converted to wartime issue, (straps, liner, etc.) nets are preferred, scrim is optional...(required)

-ID disks...................................Canadian issue...(optional)

 -Gas cape.................................Or ground sheet...(optional)

-Celanese recognition panel.....Yellow panel issued to all troops before D-Day...(optional)

-Pull over sweater......................(optional)

E.  NOTES :

*** All pieces of P37 webbing must have brass keepers and hardware, Blanco pieces are not desirable.  Try to obtain war-dated webbing...It's out there.

*** Before any weapons purchase please check with the Unit Commander in regards to legal acceptance of firearms.  Copies of Canada's Firearms Act  available for all members at any time.

*** Living history and reenactors will only carry blank or dummy ammunition.
